Examples
Q.How long does a typical residential addition take in business days?
A.A 7-phase residential addition (demo, foundation, framing, rough-in, inspections, drywall, finish) typically runs 55–70 business days depending on inspection turnaround.
Q.My project starts Jan 6 and framing takes 10 workdays. When does it finish?
A.Enter Jan 6 as start, set Framing to 10 workdays. With US holidays excluded, framing completes Jan 20 (MLK Day is skipped, adding one calendar day).
Q.How many working days are in a 6-month construction window?
A.A 6-month window (Jan–Jun) contains roughly 130 business days, minus any federal holidays that fall on weekdays — typically 4–5 in that period.
Q.I need to schedule a concrete pour 14 calendar days after site prep. What date?
A.Set Site Preparation to 14 calendar days (toggle off "workdays only"). The calculator advances exactly 14 calendar days regardless of weekends.
How it works
Pick the date work begins on site. The calculator builds the entire schedule forward from this date.
Name each phase and enter its duration in days. Toggle "workdays only" for phases that skip weekends (most trades work Mon–Fri).
Enable "Exclude US federal holidays" to automatically skip the 11 observed federal holidays across all workday-only phases.
Each phase shows its start date, end date, calendar days, and business days. Export to CSV for use in Excel or project management software.
