How long does concrete take to cure?

Concrete curing timelines are general planning estimates — not guaranteed strength or load-bearing determinations. Common reference milestones for standard Portland cement concrete include approximately 24–48 hours for early foot traffic under suitable conditions, 7 days as a general intermediate reference, and 28 days as a common reference age for specified compressive strength. Actual strength development depends on mix design, temperature, curing conditions, cement type, admixtures, moisture, slab thickness, and required strength. Always follow project specifications and applicable testing requirements when determining whether concrete is ready for a particular load or construction activity.

How long is a building permit valid?

Permit validity periods vary by jurisdiction and permit type — local rules control. Common reference periods used for planning purposes are 12 months for building permits and 6 months for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits, but these are general defaults only.
